Ross Hammell, McTaggart Construction

After 14 years as a Youth and Community Development worker in Public and third sector Ross joined McTaggart Construction as Community Benefit Officer.

Now in the role as Sustainable Communities manager Ross has assisted the company to deliver over 300 work placement, 50 jobs and 30 apprenticeships for young people from the Glasgow area.

Ross believes every young person has potential for success given the right opportunity in the right environment but more importantly the right mentor.

Ross and the sustainable Communities team at McTaggart have taken a unique approach to how they support the future workforce, they have developed School partnerships with St Mungos and Springburn Academy as well as encouraging McTaggart Staff to support MCR pathways.

Apprentices and young people are now 12% of the McTaggart Group workforce and McTaggart Group was awarded Gold investors in Young people earlier this year.

Speaking of DYW Glasgow “I am very proud of the young people we have supported at McTaggart and the projects we have and continue to support. Developing the Young and future of the Workforce in Glasgow to be the very best they can be being the only way to ensure successful business and successful communities”
