Business supports College students
Friday, 28 October 2016
Interior Design students based at City of Glasgow College are to benefit from the support of a number of Glasgow based businesses.
The students are all in their final degree year and the businesses, which include Page & Park Architects, Keppie Design Ltd, Haa Design and RedefineBDL, will provide advice and a wealth of experience through City of Glasgow College’s Mentorship Programme.
Stephanie Campbell, one of the Interior Design students, is looking forward to being matched with a mentor and said:
“The Mentorship Programme gives us a great opportunity to connect with people who are in the industry, which is usually quite hard for students to do. This gives us a foot in the door and, in liaising with professionals, helps our confidence and knowledge grow, setting us up for when we graduate.”
Louise Erica Connor works for Space Solutions, having completed her HND in Interior Design at City of Glasgow College:
“I look forward to helping the students compile their CVs and prepare for those all important job interviews. It’s about focusing on what sort of job you want and getting what you want to say right.”
James Wilson, Curriculum Head Industry Academy & Youth Employability, said:
“We are really grateful to our industry partners for sharing their time and expertise. At City of Glasgow College we prepare students for success in their chosen profession and there’s no better way of doing it than in partnership with the industries we serve.”
